BREEAM Outstanding is an incredibly difficult score to achieve. Some projects do not achieve it despite the will to achieve it. Since the BRL V6 in In-Use, the In-Use scores are no longer the same as the other guidelines. Below is an explanation for each BREEAM guideline:
In New Construction, a BREEAM Outstanding is 85% and 5 stars.
However, there are some mandatory components since the 2020 BREEAM Directive.
Credits MAN 03 (4 points), MAN 04 (2 points), MAN 05, HEA 01, HEA 04, ENE 01 (10 points), ENE 02 (2 points), WAT 01 (2 points), WAT 02, MAT 01 (4 points), WST 01, WST 03, LE 04 and POL 03 have obligations.
This level is much higher than Buildings Decree
In In-Use, a BREEAM Outstanding is 85% and 6 stars.
This has changed since BREEAM guideline V6.
In Area, a BREEAM Outstanding is 85% and 5 stars.
However, there are some mandatory components since the BREEAM Directive 2018.
There are different levels of BREEAM certificates. BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. The method originated in England and was developed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE). In the Netherlands, BREEAM is managed by the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) and there are special adapted guidelines for the Netherlands, BREEAM in the Netherlands is therefore formally called BREEAM-NL.
