Healthy Buildings

First, a brief explanation of the Well Building Standard. Well has mapped the health of buildings with features. Achieving a feature requires proof in several ways. There are 11 chapters with an average of 10 features. Every quarter the feature list is updated. As a result, buildings with the same Well certificate but a different standard are likely to have achieved different features.

Disclaimer: Since Well updates the standard quarterly, the information below may no longer be completely accurate.
What is published at IWBI is leading.

Well has 4 different types of levels of scores on buildings:

A bronze score is achieved by scoring 30 points on all features. This means that a quarter of the approximately 120 points must be achieved. Theoretically, then, this can only be done on policy without doing any modifications to the building. A Bronze certificate is the simplest to achieve.

A Silver score is achieved by scoring 40 points on all features. This means that one-third of the approximately 120 points must be achieved. Also, at least 1 point must be obtained on each of the 11 chapters.

A Gold score is achieved by scoring 50 points on all features. This means that of the approximately 120 points, 40% must be achieved. A minimum of 2 points must also be obtained on each of the 11 chapters.

A Platinum score is achieved by scoring 75 points on all features. This means that of the approximately 120 points, 60% must be achieved. Also, at least 3 points must be obtained on each of the 11 chapters.

What is Well V2?

WELL V2 is a comprehensive framework for designing, constructing and managing buildings that contribute to the health and well-being of their occupants. This certification standard covers various aspects of the building and its environment, including air and water quality, lighting, noise, nutrition and mental well-being. Through stringent requirements and guidelines, WELL V2 aims to minimize the impact of buildings on people’s health and well-being while creating a positive and productive living environment.

Well buildings icm BREEAM are healthier

Obtaining a BREEAM certificate achieves an additional 5 points on Well’s feature list. This increases the score and the certificate is achieved sooner. In addition, credits from BREEAM and features from Well partly overlap. This makes it easier to go for both certificates and they reinforce each other. Want to know more about Well?
